Geography
According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 37.28 square miles (96.6 km²), of which 37.27 square miles (96.5 km²) of it is land and 0.012 square miles (0.031 km²) of it (0.03%) is water. South of the city, Murrieta Creek and Temecula Creek join to form the Santa Margarita River.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Temecula had a population of 100,097. The population density was 3,318.0 people per square mile (1,281.1/km²).
